Pros

You have the opportunity to offer customers the products that can change their lives for the better. You have the chance to build relationships with the folks you meet.

Cons

Deplorable senior management beginning at the Supervising Store Manager (SSM) level to the Divisional Vice President for region 32. Zero direction from management above the store manager level, and intense ridicule, criticism, passive aggressiveness, and favoritism among the SSM, RSD, and DVP group. Scapegoating of SSM responsibility on to store managers. "Do as I say, not as I do." mentality. I completely agree with individual's post from February 29, 2012 entitled "Roller Coaster".

Pros

Flexible work schedule Employee discount Decent benefits package Improvement in training department Economy is very poor, happy to have a job in general.

Cons

The P3 program- P3's products are not always the solution to our customers needs to say the least (fuction, ingredients, price, quantity, dosage). Promotions/Gold Card- GNC offer their 'best" most "loyal" customers 20% off during a time of the month when prices are higher? (Promo#1) Emails- If GNC wants to be an online business go for it but do not send my customers coupons that they can not use in store and complain about issues with sales. Rankings- While this may cause some healthy competiton it also has cut down on communication between stores. Managers who are producing high KPI numbers are not wanting to coach other managers or employees in fear that they will be lower in the rankings. Lack of training- Our customer expect GNC employees to know quite a lot. Lack of incentives- employees are given a pat on the back for good performance...

Pros

Great RSD Leadership! He does not transfer down ALL of the BS. He tries to protect his people as much as he can in an environment that has nothing to do with reality.

Cons

KPI! This company has fallen in love with meaningless sales goals. They threaten termination over the percentages of how the dollars are achieved not rather or not they are achieved. As a result EVERY manager (myself included) drives down a stores overall profitabilty by not selling certain items that do not fit within what the company considers "important".
