Pros

As a company they employ people.

Cons

GNC is fueled by bullying, fear, gross incompetence, and above all else, delusion. It is an awkward, hollow leftover of a 'company' that has been owned 100% by Chinese Pharama (Harbin group) since GNC declared bankruptcy in 2020. Widespread incompetence and toxicity aside -- the biggest warning I would issue is for any creatives, especially creatives in comms and marketing (designers, writers etc.) This place chews up and spits out their Creatives. It lacks understanding or appreciation for writing, strategy, content, any type of communications planning. If you work in copy/comms/marketing and care about your career/life/happiness as a writer and person who creates, I WOULD ESPECIALLY CAUTION YOU TO STAY CLEAR. Toxic. Exploitative. Deceptive.

Pros

Friendly work environment, develop relationships with great customers, casual dress, flexible work schedule, nice managers

Cons

Selling memberships and subscriptions is all they care about. They couldn't care less about actually helping people. Waaaaayyy to many b.s. conference calls. Way too many tagging changes. The system that they use to measure your success is crap because it doesn't take into account how many customers are already upgraded members and they ding your numbers when you aren't even present if you have deliveries set up. Screwy metrics! Very high turn over. Low pay.

Pros

The job is easy. If you know your products, your hourly rate has the potential to skyrocket through the roof. Good source of income for college students looking to get by.

Cons

Forced to up sell customers. For example, I do not agree with shoving products in the customers face if they are coming in looking for a protein bar or an energy drink. I am pretty sure GNC is going downhill and the upper management is pressuring the sales associates to bring the company back up. There are not many opportunities for advancement and lunch breaks are non existent.
