Pros

Gatsby has a wonderful culture. Everyone is brilliant, thoughtful, and highly collaborative. Over the past 6 months, product momentum has accelerated and so has customer growth. This is a really exciting time to join the company.

Cons

Gatsby is a distributed company with team members spread out across the world. This is a startup which means processes are still being built out there can be ambiguity at times, but that's also the fun of being in a startup.

Pros

- You can basically choose your work hours depending on your personal and team needs, since we have so many people in different time zones. - The focus really is on outcomes instead of output, which is especially refreshing for design. - From the beginning, my manager and colleagues have encouraged me to grow in my career and step into a leadership role. - People are really open to collaboration and are generally happy to help push a project forward or create a new initiative. - Many of the people here are true leaders in their fields. - It's a fun, challenging product to work on. - Though we still have disparity in hiring people from marginalized communities, I can see real steps being taken to improve diversity and inclusion. It seems like Gatsby has had to learn some lessons over the years, but I think they're better for it. - I genuinely feel like I have the room to experiment and make mistakes here. - People aren't really stuck in "old ways" of doing things, so there's a ton of room to carve out your own path and processes.

Cons

- It can be hard to coordinate working hours with teams who are in very different time zones, so you have to be flexible and set clear boundaries. - Communication is important since we're all remote, and it's easy for that to fall through the cracks and for people to feel like they're out of the loop on decisions that affect them or work that's expected of them. This creates trust issues, which I believe is probably the most likely thing to impact Gatsby in the long run if a culture of trust is not thoughtfully created. - I'm a newer hire, but if I had joined the team at an earlier stage I'd probably have some burnout. This seems to be pretty common at startups I've worked at, but we shouldn't accept that as the norm.

Pros

The team at Gatsby is the biggest selling point. It is a diverse group of people with a common mission that are truly in it together. The product is full of potential and in the 5 months I have been here it has been exciting to watch the business grow.

Cons

Still exploring product market fit and employees are expected to wear multiple hats. If you are not excited about building a company, this is not the place for you.
