Pros

New CEO shows real promise. Left before he came onboard. Whole system needs restructuring and professional ethics instituted. Great employees and middle managers stuck in a toxic work environment specifically in marketing/PR Department.

Cons

Lack of industry knowledge at a basic level in marketing/advertising. CCO should be marketing director at best. Lacks leadership skills and integrity. High school atmosphere of leader pitting managers against each other. Team - and even directors and managers - are powerless to make their own decisions. Micro-management prohibits job fulfillment and very high turnover of the best and brightest is the result.

Pros

Good benefits, vacation time, pharmacy hours are great. Direct management is understanding. Opportunity for extra shifts available. Extra help available on most occasions.

Cons

It's hard to get rid of bad employees. Hiring someone new takes forever. Upper management imposes new procedures without ever visiting sites and understanding our business

Pros

Geisinger has utilized PAs and NPs for a long time, and utilized them well (this is changing). Benefits are very good--not exceptional--but very good.

Cons

PAs are provided very little opportunity for advancement. Perhaps that is the culture generated by our profession as *dependent* practitioners. As the system becomes more academic in nature, PA autonomy has decreased; responsibilities that were once soley the PA's, are now within the pervue of residents and many of us have been relegated to support positions with responsibilities that are neither personally nor professionally rewarding. This is most unfortunate.
