Come for the projects and experience, then leave
Pros
Joining as SW engineer will put you almost immediately in charge of pretty important projects and allow for great system level experience, dealing with pressure and adversity with little repercussions if you fail or go over time. Looks great on a resume. Job security is extremely stable and despite what they try to say, unless you commit violations or crimes, you will have a job there. Work/Life balance. Leave at exactly 40.1 if you want and flex your time to get some easy Fridays
Cons
Everything else. Culture is atrocious and bent on "work more slow, make more dough". You can literally see people ageing and drying up in the sun doing menial tasks day to day. There are some seriously incompetent people in all levels of engineering experience and implementation wise. ATA Shop Order system is done extremely poorly at company especially for engineers. Promotes a culture of not doing anything unless a SO is provided and puts a barrier on having more engineers be cross disciplined, going to labs and learning. Lack of company paid for professional development even on pertinent topics. Your time, company won't pay for it. It has cut most of its programs to develop engineers (classes on Systems engineering, Masters degree programs, Tech X). Parking is hilarious here. Prepare to be dinged.
