Pros

+ Job Security + Unique Projects + Important Mission + Good Starter Job for New Engineers + Good Career Advancement Opportunities

Cons

- Poor Engineering Workforce Retention Rate: EB does not offer a competitive salary compared to the other military defense companies like Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Bell Textron, etc. As a result, you might find yourself in a group, with a majority of inexperienced engineers, and with less than 5 years experience, trying to pick up the pieces on a project where someone else left off at because they have suddenly left the company. - Management is very detached from the working level and is ignorant of the competency of their workforce. They expect engineers with little to no shipbuilding experience to absorb the knowledge retained and perform similar to engineers who have 5-20+ years of shipbuilding experience. - Poor Culture/Attitude: In my experience, the majority just do the bare minimum and keep their head down, until the next opportunity pops up external to the company, some even openly state so in the work area which is demoralizing. People are sharing what their salaries and merit increases with each other to get a better sense of where they stand in terms of compensation, and that plays a large factor as to why many experienced engineers leave if they're not tied down to the area due to family.

Pros

Only have to work 40hrs/wk. Long term Job safety. 401k match is 6%

Cons

I had the worst experiences with management. Despite their intent to want to hire people in their early 20's, they don't really take care of their new employees too well. My supervisor's boss openly and publicly slammed millennials for not having any loyalty for their employers anymore. Maybe if the company treated its employees better, my generation (28yo) wouldn't have to go find another job. **SHOCKER I KNOW** - You'll hear "follow the process" and "we're committed to continuous improvement" often. However, when it comes to "improving the processes", the company is rather rigid. This slows down your ability to work MASSIVELY. ...I have lots to say about this place...
