People are sharing what their salaries and merit increases with each other to get a better sense of where they stand in terms of compensation, and that plays a large factor as to why many experienced engineers leave if they're not tied down to the area due to family.

My supervisor's boss openly and publicly slammed millennials for not having any loyalty for their employers anymore.
