Pros

Great benifits. Decent Pay. Work with smart people that require you to improve your performace. Great place to work and to support your family. Recession proof job.

Cons

Not much of a chance to move up into managment as Tech. Every manger at the plant level is Engineer of somesort. Revoling door for plant managers ( i.e. I have had 4 new plant managers in 5 years) that the Old school local mangers, that been at the plant forever, steer the young plant manager to what they want. So who is really your boss? You have to fight for vaction bewteen 10 other people. If that day is book you can't take your vacation. The work schdule is demanding and does not let you have any sort social life.

Pros

Plenty of great benefits if working at HQ. Great coworkers and plenty of networking opportunities. Plenty of feedback from managers (although not always honest)

Cons

Management moves around promoting each other too much and too often. Never sticks around long enough to see the train wreck their policies can create. (I had more VPs, RM, and Directors than I did number of years with the company.) In order to advance must be selected early on. Once selected, job performance matters less than keeping on your managers good side. People are treated differently based on who the current management team is. Minneapolis winters and mosquitoes in the spring.
