Dysfunctional Company

Pros

Open time off policy, work life balance is good, Customers love the products, Standard benefits are O.K.

Cons

Lots of people have been let go or quit the company over the past year. Toxic, dysfunctional, rude, condescending, inconsiderate, and verbally abusive would describe some of the employees. Persistent office politics and cliques. Teamwork doesn't exist in this company's vocabulary. No trust between departments. Company seems very siloed, it's an "us against them" mentality. Workflow systems are archaic and outdated which caused a lot of confusing as to how things were supposed to get done. It’s a technology company that doesn’t know how use technology. Change is a real struggle for most of the tenured employees. Not a company that is open to new ideas on how to improve things. Genesys didn’t deliver on their promises that were made during the interview process such as tuition reimbursement and cell phone plan reimbursement; the old bait and switch. If they promise you something extra, outside the normal benefits, be sure to get it in writing. Their benefits overall aren’t that great and the company itself just isn't very exciting and isn't the best career move in terms of experience gained from the work that you do. Not sure how they made it to the glassdoor.com top 50 places to work.

Genesys Response

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Like most companies, we do have some newer managers, and we are engaging in a series of new learning and development related programs to support them. I believe Genesys is a company consisting of smart, engaged people who all want to do the right thing. If you were still here, I would encourage you to speak to your department leader or HR partner to see how we could help resolve your concerns. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors, Tracy (Tracy Cote, Chief People Officer).

Pros

Highly focussed on achieving goals. Flexible schedule with competitive pay and benefits. Very successful financially, which results in a good bonus pay out each year.

Cons

May be getting a little too big and starting to lose the feel of a small software company

Great People, Great Products, Bad Senior Management

Pros

The people are great, a dynamic adaptable team of people, great products and solutions. Each regional team (AsiaPac, Latin America, EMEA, North America) has its own culture that adds to and builds the overall company culture.

Cons

Senior Management is being squeezed by External Investor, they are firing people who have years of experience to hire graduates so they can reduce the salary cost and any pay outs required when the investor either floats the company and exits or a larger group squires the company.
