Pros

Free tuition- 6 credits free for two semesters a year - earn a bachelor's, master's and/or PhD. Good location - Fairfax, VA Great place to get your foot in the door - get sent to the academy - get certifications under your belt

Cons

Bad pay. Paying for parking is expensive and mandatory. Rotating shifts. Management. Lack of promotions. No one on campus likes the police - faculty, staff or students.

Pros

I would say the job overall is easy. Stocking, taking cash register orders, assisting customers, and cleaning everything gets relatively easier over time. You get free food, from Burger King, Taco Bell, and Sub Connection, although the amount of food is obviously not enough to fill you up. The people I've worked with were very nice, and the environment was perfect for any college student hoping to make some quick cash. You can get a parking pass for ten dollars every week taken out of your paycheck, which would help pay for the EXPENSIVE AS IS parking that GMU issues on a daily basis.

Cons

The management hires many people who can't speak English, or do their job as well as most people who had their hours reduced could. The hours are hardly ever divided fairly. People who would call out would get it rejected, especially when it comes to exam week if the store is understaffed. The company policies are also kind of screwed up. The company Sodexo, pretty much controls an entire monopoly. So its no surprise that most of the students who go to GMU, are going to be ripped off inside campus. Its hard to move up in management, especially since they have a strict policy on punctuality, and yet people with no customer service experience get hired as Supervisors. Just because they needed the money to pay off their college 'debt.' Sodexo doesn't really care about your well being, and only care about making money and profiting off of you. But what company nowadays doesn't do that?

Pros

The Collaborative Learning Hub is a great opportunity to build a lot of different skills while you're going through school. You'll become proficient ins software that is typically used throughout the working world. You'll build a lot of skills and learn a lot about working with a variety of different people.

Cons

The pay isn't extremely high for the area. Occasionally office politics show up, but rarely change the day-to-day operation of the lab.
