Pros

There is a coffee machine in the break room. That's the only pro.

Cons

Complete and total volatile work environment. The management of both the offices and the production department are the worst I've experienced in my life. Most of the project managers are terrible, disorganized, and constantly blame their mistakes on other people. The upper management are hard headed idiots apparently allergic to logical thinking. The engineering department is a total joke and poorly managed. The shop general foremen are also terrible people who lay off carpenters the moment any project is completed. Everyone who works here are in constant fear they they will furloughed or laid off at any moment. During the busy season, employees are expected to work 7 days a week 7am- 7:30 pm. There is zero work/life balance. Almost everyone who works here are constantly clawing for power while stabbing each other in the back and brown nosing upper management at every opportunity. The culture of both office and shop is the worst. Racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and just plain mean. The management team is 100% white male good ole boys, and if your'e not one of them you will not have a future with the company, no matter how hard you work.

Pros

Ability to travel and work with creative people in Boston

Cons

The company as a whole has a fair amount of learning to do, however The big blue account takes it to another level. This place is a revolving door. There are some pros to the company but what little there is doesn't seem to exist in Austin. The leader of the office is a basket case who never follows up on a promise and certainly doesn't care about the employees. Leads to fear for upper management and it results in an exorbitantly negative environment. They are CONSTANTLY hiring people with no experience. And to make things even worse, they promote people who have no clue what they are doing. Upper management in Austin doesn't value the talented staff and will replace you with a new hire who came straight from a animal shelter...... Because they can "train them". It's almost unbelievable how ignorant the senior management is. But rest assured, they are happy to drop thousands of dollars on new rugs and comfy couches where the staff that have no work can hang out. If you are OK with no acknowledgement of your talent, terrible pay and want to get worked like a mule, then join the Austin office. The 3 Austin reviews before mine hit the nail on the head.

Pros

Extremely reputable agency with very talented people. Definitely ahead of the curve from a technical and creative perspective. Learned a great deal during my time there.

Cons

The Austin leadership team fostered a culture of over work, low morale and lots of promotions to people who were merely friends of the leadership or simply said what leadership of that office wanted to hear. No one can stand up to say hey things are really bad here and what can we do to fix.? So fearful of being honest. These promoted individuals had little skills in managing events, being a project manager let alone driving the strategic thinking of how events should be executed at an agency of this caliber. The pay is also very low. Very easy to leave GPJ for a very significant increase in salary to do basically the same role.
