Pros

Nothing worth torturing yourself ...

Cons

1- Toxic environment - they undervalue your work and then steal it and present it themselves. There is no right way to get the credit of your work. 2- They exclude you (specially if you are minority) from important meeting and information. Then, they bully you that you have not show enough initiation to be involved. 3- They abuse your skill set to make fake scientific stories for publications. These people are against science and facts. FDA should really take a closer look. 4- In general, the company is going south by wrong decisions. Check their current drugs and compare to their competitors. 5- No work- life balance. They make you work like a dog under extreme micro-management. 6- They lie to your eyes everyday. It is disgusting to work with these unethical people. 7- When they want to hire you, they try to sell you that these is a great place, be aware, these is their trick to hire, then they give you some sign on package that in order to have it, you have to stay with them for at least two-three years. This is how they trap you. 8- The diversity is very low in a weird way. Each department is almost single race, e.g., all Chinese, or all white 9- Lots of duplication projects, because they copy each other or steal each other's work. 10- If you still have not been convinced, try and see it for yourself.

Pros

They are devoted to science, and the mission of the company is pure, even if it doesn't always work out that way in practice.

Cons

If you are interested in working in Talent Acquisition, be very careful. They have no data management or OFCCP compliance strategy, at all. The company went from a few thousand employees to 11 thousand in the span of a few short years - consequently most of the executives are people who have grown up with the company, and haven't been exposed to minor market global HR strategies - particularly in Talent Acquisition. The department uses several layers of contractors as recruiters and sourcers, and many of them have been on contract longer than the limit required of a federal contractor. Everywhere you turn, there is another horrible Easter egg waiting to be discovered in the form of non-compliance. I would also note that their current leader of TA, Stanley Blackwell, is a terrible leader - he is not engaged and he isolated key members of his staff from the business. He is also extremely rude. I would never work for that person, and am amazed that they held onto him for so long.

Pros

I can honestly say there are other big Pharma s out there that great employees better than Gilead. Maybe when the stock was good but now it’s stuck in the $70’s for over 2 years, people came and stayed. I can’t imagine people wanting to stay for the stock now.

Cons

Management are full of micro managers, constantly shuffled from divisions to other divisions without experience or contacts. Hiring from outside would be better but Gilead protects its own. Way overrated and salespeople are arrogant as hell. Presidents club is based on history of territory and nothing to do with success of Rep. I can’t say anyone in my division is happy, just too lazy to get out. When managers can get away with unethical behavior because they’re protected based on who the know, it brings morale down. I knew it was bad but couldn’t imagine it to be this bad 😡
