Pros
They will give you a paycheck
Cons
Don’t believe their lies! This organization is terrible for women. Belittling and toxic culture. HR is completely non responsive to egregious issues such as harassment from direct supervisors, invasion questions over medical issues, and violent language in the workplace. I didn’t even last 6 months here. I thought I was joining an organization that supported girls and the growth and development of future leaders. My supervisor called me an idiot. The CEO of our council is out of touch. HR has no concept of how to handle serious issues. Clique like environment. Numbers focused, it’s all about membership numbers and getting revenue from cookies. They are exploiting girls to sell cookies under the guise of “entrepreneurship” when the majority of that money pays for council operations. Your daughters are selling cookies to pay the salaries of executives who mistreat their female employees. Your daughters are selling cookies made with palm oil in countries using child labor. Don’t believe the hype they promote on “responsible” palm oil, the fraction that comes from sustainable sources is so small! They’re wildly excessive and wasteful with funding so girls aren’t even getting the benefit of the funds from the program they are working to support. I would never recommend working for Girls Scouts, this organization has been a horrible place to work.
