Pros

Remote work that does not lose the communication and interaction. Great culture. Everyone's helpful and supportive.

Cons

Timezone difference if you're in the APAC region can be a bit challenging but it's a minor thing. The company's doing its best to remedy this issue.

Pros

- Love love love working fully remotely! Helps a lot when it comes to manage family life. - Interesting product and great tech stack to work on. - I work with a bunch of cool people, I get to have video calls with them often. - I've been enjoying working asynchronously! For example, sometimes I get to finish my day with some work handed over to a team member to review. This team member would be located somewhere that's 10-12 hours ahead of me, which means that when I start a new working day, it's likely that I'll have already receive my reviews from my colleague. As a developer, asynchronous work is definitely something that works well.

Cons

- The company is growing very fast. As a result, onboarding was a bit rocky, I didn't get my working laptop until a week / 10 days after my first day. Minor annoyance, but that's part of growth, I understand it.

Thanks so much for leaving a review! Glad to hear you've been enjoying life at GitLab so far. Your example of asynchronous work is great -- one of the many reasons to embrace remote work. We're sorry to hear about your laptop delay, but appreciate your understanding. Our IT Ops team is actively iterating on this process to better serve the many new team members joining us around the globe. Welcome to the team!

Pros

I'm very new to GitLab but I'm nothing but impressed so far. Here are some of my Pros for working at GitLab: - Full-time Remote (Done Right) - Competitive Salaries - Good Benefits including funds for setting up your remote workspace or co-working space. - Work-life balance

Cons

Hard to speak about cons since I just started but the distributed nature of the teams, across time zones, will take some getting used to. I love the idea though so it's not much of a con.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience so far, and welcome to GitLab! You bring up an important point -- being part of a global team certainly has its challenges. But since we're an all-remote company, we document everything, and we can work asynchronously, you may find that collaborating across time zones comes more naturally than you'd think.
