Strong compensation but poor management leads to instability
Pros
The compensation package is above the industry average, the environment is inclusive, and most colleagues are highly competent and collaborative team players. Additionally, the London office is located in an excellent area.
Cons
Incompetent management led to a decline in project opportunities, resulting in consultants who were not billable being made redundant with little notice and under the guise of a settlement agreement. The Managing Director of the London office was referred to as "expensive help" during a meeting, a characterisation that I found difficult to disagree with. There appeared to be a culture of favoritism, where individuals with the right connections or alignment were able to retain their positions and even receive promotions despite poor performance or a lack of billable work. Some teams experienced a culture of bullying, while poor planning by certain sales staff often resulted in unreasonable last-minute demands. Colleagues from the US frequently sought our assistance, which we readily provided, yet these efforts were often met with little recognition or even a simple expression of thanks.
