Pros

-Good product and people at the org.

Cons

-New CRO has destroyed any semblance of culture at Gong. -We are operating off a lack of trust and constant admin tasks being pushed down from the top. -Across all GTM orgs there's a microscope on activity metrics, which causes confusion as to what people should be focusing on: activities or outcomes? -Leadership is demanding things like weekly acvitiy in forecasts, on weekly forecast calls with the team, which kills morale and any sort of trust. -AE and CSM teams are turning over at a rapid rate due to this new culture. -DEI is no longer relevant with leadership replacing diverse leaders with white males. -No visibility into pay bands internally, so you have to ask around to find your range.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. While it was hard to read your sentiment about culture, inclusion, trust & transparency, we are always looking for ways to improve and value all feedback. Diversity and belonging remain core tenets of our culture. We continue to prioritize hiring talent from diverse backgrounds & while we are proud of the progress we've made, we recognize this work is ongoing and actively identify opportunities to equip our managers to build diverse teams. As we've grown, we've focused on enhancing our methodologies and optimizing processes so that all employees clearly understand company and personal goals and how to achieve success. We strive to do this in a way that balances autonomy and support; if this hasn't been your experience, we apologize. Don’t hesitate to reach out directly if you’d like to discuss further. - Suni Lobo (CPO)

Pros

- Incredible product, supportive and engaged CEO and CPO, and great people that build products. - Our product team really listens to our customers and makes changes - I've never been at a company that hits roadmap targets so well.

Cons

- Others have touched on this but the leadership changes have been difficult. It is common for ICs to have multiple managers over the course of a few months. - Pipeline reviews on an almost daily basis for large deal sizes that can take multiple months to close and pressure to move those deals into further stages when they are actually not ready to be moved. - There are large pay discrepancies. People are leaving Gong for other orgs where they are getting paid more. - One of Gong's operating principles is "No Sugar." In the past 6 months, leadership has not wanted to hear No Sugar feedback from ICs. When ICs speak up - they are met with hostility when there used to be a lot of support and transparency. - As Gong competes with Outreach, SalesLoft, and Clari - there is not a lot of internal support to truly enable sellers to compete with those solutions - particularly in the Enterprise where those tools are deeply embedded and we need to rip/replace. - Diversity and Inclusion is still a struggle - Gong has always had a somewhat "sales bro" culture. They could use more women and more cultural diversity in leadership roles - particularly in the sales org - from the Executive Team down

It’s great to read your positive sentiment about our people, products, and innovation; however, hearing your feedback about leadership changes, compensation, and DEIB was difficult. As we look to expand globally, we have hired additional leaders, and while that can equate to change, it’s a natural part of evolution, and we are excited about the growth that lies ahead. Transparency and belonging are fundamental to our culture. We strive to create an environment where every team member can openly share feedback, is encouraged to be themselves, and is empowered to succeed. We regularly benchmark salaries against market data to remain competitive and adjust accordingly when needed. It's our priority to fairly reward our employees for their contributions; I apologize if that wasn't your experience. - Suni Lobo (CPO)
