Where do I begin? This company is an actual joke to work for, Brian Mueller is going to do exactly the same thing that he did for university of Phoenix where he expands at a tremendous rate and then plateaus, makes millions and leaves. Being a university counselor means sitting in a cubicle making cold calls all day and trying to get someone on the phone that supposedly inquired in 2007 who have been called about 200 times since then. The entire training process is not about learning the programs or learning about the university itself it’s about getting someone on the phone long enough to have a conversation with them and hoping that they’ll answer again to sell them on the school so that you can get your X amount of enrollments that you need per month, but we’re not a sales job were “counselors”. This is a numbers based job where if you over exceed by five enrollments one month but you missed the next two month by 1 enrollment you go on a corrective action plan (CAP) aka a write up. They throw write ups out like it’s candy which stops you from moving to a different position or doing anything else within the company. The corrective action plans are not based on behavior but they’re based on numbers but we’re not a sales job let me reiterate that we’re not a sales job. How can you expect Your employees to get any type of enrollments on a consistent basis with the leads that you give them and dealing with financial aid issues because everyone these days are in default or have other financial aid issues and can’t get them enrolled. How is that the university counselors fault? But you want to throw a write up to them because they had financial aid issues and couldn’t hit their number. If you’re going to work for Grand Canyon University or Grand Canyon education I would definitely recommend staying as far away from the University counselor position as possible. The turnover rate for this position is also something that they need to pay attention to as well because there has to be an issue when I was in a training class of 55 and there’s only about 13 of us left from 8 months ago and I’m leaving as well. there is a new training class of about 40 to 50 people per month and that’s because the turnover is so high. Buy better leads in your turnover rate would not be as high.
