Pros

The work environment in sales at Granite is very challenging yet very rewarding and competitive. The company does foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and open communication. From day one, I do feel valued by my co workers and sales managers, who are always willing to lend a hand and provide guidance when needed. I like the sales position and ability to prospect new businesses. This is a challenging role and you need to diligent and consistent daily. It's a structured environment on the sales floor with energy but I thrive in that kind of office culture. Very good commission plan and quarterly bonuses where you can make very good money if you sell. I recommend working at Granite and it's a great place to start your sales career and get excellent sales training and development. The company has a good benefits package. The base salary could be higher and the commission structure provides ample opportunity for additional income based on your performance. They do offer hybrid weekly work schedule.

Cons

Base salary could be higher for the Boston sales job market but you can make good money with the comp/commission plan they offer.

Burnout City

Pros

Great coworkers, good direct management, not micromanaged

Cons

Ops departments are overworked and underpaid for the amount of work they have to do. The amount of expectation placed on reps to make sure everything goes smoothly guarantees failure and burnout — it feels like you often have to do the job of every other department to avoid falling behind or having customers and sales angry at you. The direct premier supervisors and manager will have your back and help but even just the process of getting more dedicated support can be a crapshoot depending on the situation. Ultimately it's not enough to avoid the constant feeling that you're not doing enough or the backlash of customers who were promised a degree of support in the sales cycle that we don't have the manpower or infrastructure to provide (and burn ourselves out trying to give them). Also, major process changes are rolled out frequently and without enough warning or testing, frustrating ops departments and customers alike as we regularly scramble to readjust.
