Pros

Excellent work life balance, no pressure and quiet working environment, very friendly employees. If you are looking to coast throughout your career, this is the place to do it. Very open to new ideas. Strong Profits and revenue growth. Pension plan which is a rarity. Working from home a plus.

Cons

no incentive compensation for non-managerial employees. If you are young or mid career this is not the company for you. Highly restrictive and archaic technology, too many managers relative to non-managers. No transparency from senior executives. Average at best talent throughout the ranks. Highly resistant to change. Trend is to develop more satellite offices in my opinion a strong negative for the lower ranking employees to grow within the firm and will kill team camaraderie. Recruits mostly from outside the organization very low opportunity for growth. No non managerial employee development and training program. Large amount of layoffs over the last 4 years. Top down hierarchical and bureaucratic company. Very poor business disaster recovery, NY employees have been working in Jersey City for nearly a year.

Pros

Philosophy is right on point for proper financial planning. Just recently moved their office to downtown SD as a way of elevating the experience for their clients. You will get more support here to market your business than anywhere else you go. Period. Renewals on life insurance and pension plan are very attractive benefits.

Cons

New GA is very intense and may not be the right personality for all people. You will either be extremely successful or you will be leaving this office. Unless you are selling a ton in securities, the payouts are lousy by industry standards.
