Pros

The team is amazing. Everyone says hello and will introduce themselves to new employees, including upper management. I’ve even seen the CEO even go around and personally introduce himself to the new employees. The work environment is amazing because while on some days the office can be quiet and focused, on other days the office is full of life. People make the workplace fun by bringing in baked goods, homemade tea, and different flavors of coffee to share, and promoting positive energy. I love that they are a modern company, offering a business casual dress code, telework opportunities, and embrace cultural diversity. The benefits are amazing. My favorites include the student loan paydown, LegalShield, onsite gym, breakfast on Fridays, and company lunches. I also love the location of the office, there's an affordable and delicious deli and a yoga studio next door, an auto repair shop across the street, the metro and the post office are also nearby. I’ve never worked at a place where the management cares about their employees as much as they do here. If you do good work, they will help you make a career. Many people across all departments have worked here for many years. I’ve seen multiple people start at an entry-level position and get promoted.

Cons

The work can be busy at times, but I like it because I didn’t come to work to just sit around and do nothing all day.

Pros

This review is so that current & potential employees can better understand the nature of the recent negative reviews, the majority of which have been posted by former employees who were terminated for poor performance, toxic attitudes, or consistent and uncorrected improper behavior. I’ve been working at Guidance for over 10 years, and there are a lot of employees who have been here for 8-10 years or longer, with a few who even retired from the company. Guidance appreciates employees with good work ethic and integrity. Only your work speaks for you here, not relationships and/or favoritism. There are many family connections across Guidance, not just Senior Management. Also, no family member ever reports to another family member, even if they are in the same department. The company values and welcomes referrals of friends and family to work here. The referral may get the person an interview. But performance and attitude are the only reason the person is allowed to remain on staff. Not all family members who are hired are allowed to stay if they break the rules or don’t perform. Guidance is not a charitable organization and should not be expected to keep paying employees for gossiping all day, negatively affecting the attitudes and performance of others, and not producing results. For anyone with those attributes, this is definitely not the right company for them to remain on staff, or even to consider joining. Guidance is an at-will employer – no one is held hostage to stay. There are over 100 happy people employed at Guidance, some of who have left positive reviews. It is unfortunate that almost everyone the company had to legitimately terminate is only posting a review after they had to be let go. If they were as miserable as they claim to be in these reviews, and the company & management is as bad as they say they are, these people should have left on their own a long time ago.

Cons

Month end deadlines can be stressful.
