Pros

Exciting opportunities, challenging work, great colleagues. A company that truly believes in its core values.

Cons

As a consultant, you might end up on a project in one-horse town and get stuck there for a few months.

Pros

Collegiate environment, where rationality and integrity are highly valued and recognised personal traits. Very clear strategy, well expressed throughout the company. Competent and accessible senior management. Wonderful customer base.

Cons

The consensus and collegiate approach to decision making can sometimes be frustrating, but is nothing compared to the inertia of other places I have worked.

Pros

I am working in the Dublin office as a Solution Consultant. I have started 20 month ago and I have had a good time ever since. There is a lot of room for personal growth in the office - not only within the consultant role, but within the office and the various roles the Dublin office is offering today and even beyond that. The social commitee in the Dublin office puts a lot of effort into maintaining the very special Guidewire culture, even though it becomes more difficult with now about 130 employees just in Dublin. Not only do we have regular events, but there are also many social/sport groups which are organised by single or groups of colleagues.

Cons

Some projects become stressful at times, because the customer is king. But as we all know the king is not always right. Sometimes I wish Guidewire would use its strong market position to make the customer understand that we know what we are doing and that it would be a good decision to follow our lead during implementation projects. We are taking a "No" as an answer to easily. In the end this makes projects stressful for all involved parties, but especially for the consultants.
