Pros

Pay is competitive, benefits okay - though generally declining each year. Savannah area is nice, except the brutally hot summers. Aircraft are world class and top level executives at GD have spend a fortune developing the company's infrastructure and R&D.

Cons

These is no top to bottom org chart view-able by employees or public. But if one could review such a list of positions and reports I am certain it would highlight the top heavy and ineffective management structure discussed by many other reviewers. It seems like many positions are simply favors to friends or family - not really needed; or not at all the best / most qualified persons for the responsibilities required to be effective.

Sinking Ship! Run, don't walk away

Pros

Gulfstream still manages to somehow build a great product, despite the disorganized mess that is management. Pay is good, especially for Savannah.

Cons

Middle management is completely useless. From managers to directors, it seems like no one is willing to make decisions or do anything to draw attention. TONS of office politics in trying to please the big bosses as job 1. Involuntary reduction in force in Dec 2015, currently offering voluntary separation to roughly 3,500 employees - everyone knows another involuntary reduction will follow when they don't get enough takers for the voluntary offer. Employees walk around waiting for the axe to drop. Zero growth opportunities if you're not designing an aircraft or are someone's friend when it comes time to fill positions. The good old boy network is definitely alive and well at Gulfstream.

Pros

Working with some of the best minds on the best product in the industry. Good benefitd, including 6% matching of 401k.

Cons

Good ol boy culture, organizational structure, stove piped organizations, inconsistent process.
