Pros

Clothing Discount, co-workers, work from home

Cons

Communication skills from top to bottom, hiring over qualified individuals with a promise of growth opportunities with no actionable steps or possibilities to grow, immediate contradiction of “values” at the first sign of struggle i.e. putting family first (this should also include your staff), expectation to live in a metropolitan area for most positions that could be done remotely, providing a “competitive pay” while expecting “world class results”

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review, we appreciate it! We are incredibly sorry that we couldn't have made your experience working at Gymshark more positive. We truly believe our core values are clear and strong in our new business plan, which is in the process of being cascaded throughout the business. However, we would love to discuss the points you have raised in more detail. If you'd be up for a conversation about these areas, our People team would be happy to listen! If you drop them a email on glassdoorresponses@gymshark.com someone will be in touch. Thank you again.

Pros

The North American employees are driven, ambitious, and kind individuals who like to work hard and have fun. A generous employee discount.

Cons

No strategic direction or follow through. Decisions are made in a vacuum and change often. There is no accountability or ownership which leads to chaos and finger pointing. Due to the C Suite's inabilities time, money, and energy are wasted in accomplishing even simple tasks. Many promises will be made but most will be broken by leadership in the UK. They have zero clue to what they are doing.

Hi - We appreciate your openness and honesty in this review. Firstly, we whole heartedly agree with you that our North American employees are driven and ambitious individuals. However, we are very sorry to learn that we couldn't have made your experience working at Gymshark more positive. We understand that the past few months at Gymshark have been rocky, but, we also understand that with the business changing and growing every day, finding the right balance between being right, ready and qualified for positions is, of course, a challenge. That being said, we are confident that our new business plan will allow us to support people through these changes. It would be great if you were willing to discuss the points you have raised in further detail! Please drop an email to our People Team at glassdoorresponses@gymshark.com, and someone will be in touch. Thank you again.

Pros

Especially below leadership levels, there are some really incredible people in the company. Additionally, there are some nice perks if you work in North America like fitness stipends and 50% off for all Gymshark gear.

Cons

The leadership will do "lay offs" for specific people if there's any lack of alignment or dissenting opinions. When I first joined they sold that the company was "family first" and talked about how the people in the company are what makes the business great, since then they've had three rounds of layoffs impacting hundreds of former employees, and subsequently changed their definition of "family first" to being solely about their customers. Beyond that, they're awful at internal communication, if you work in the US you'll be treated as a secondary employee and won't receive the benefits of being at HQ, and finally, and most egregiously, Ben Francis hired all of his college buddies (young, white, men) to be chiefs of the business and they are severely lacking any strategic direction at the top.

Hi! We appreciate the time you have taken to leave this review for us, and we are grateful for your openness and honesty. First, we would just like to let you know that we completely agree that all our North American employees, current or not, are driven and ambitious individuals. We understand that the past few months at Gymshark have been rocky, but we are also optimistic about the future. In particular, we believe our core values stand strong in our new business plan, which is currently in the process of being cascaded throughout the business. That being said, we are always looking for ways to make Gymshark an even better place to work for our employees, and so we would love nothing more than to have the opportunity to discuss the points you have raised further. If you could please drop an email to our People Team at glassdoorresponses@gymshark.com someone will be in touch! Thank you again.
