Pros

Incredible work environment, freedom to help influence decisions, advancement opportunities, career development, openness to improving if something is a problem, flexible work hours, the vast majority of your coworkers are good workers and interesting people, endless amenities, extremely generous benefits & vacation policies. This company does a lot to support the community around them. They provide a lot of opportunities for entry-level jobs and train people on the job while they are getting paid. They have high standards, so the interview process is challenging, but it also means everyone here is great. Hands down the best job I've ever had. (And I've had a lot of jobs in my career.)

Cons

I don't feel there are a lot of downsides to working here. There are problems, for sure, but a lot of it is more about individuals than the organization itself. People with poor performance or attitudes will likely have a difficult time here. Your mileage may vary.

Pros

Working at HCSS is continually challenging and rewarding. You are given room to find your place in the department/company and encouraged to articulate your goals and turn them into actions. This may seem like a weird 'pro', but there is opportunity for failure. You are not expected to be perfect, just a quick learner. The greatest pro about HCSS will always be the people--the fellow employees that you interact with daily. Laughter is a regular part of my day.

Cons

The typical resistance to change/new ideas is there, but only to the level of making sure a change has been thoroughly thought about and dissected before interrupting the current development flow. Only major con: all of the nuts in the kitchen are unsalted.

Glad you are able to laugh each day. I feel the same. I'll pass along your major con about the unsalted nuts, but at least the Wellness Committee is looking out for your health!

Great company with some challenges

Pros

Everyone is friendly, there's an open-door policy between most employees and management/executives, and there are some outrageous perks: workout center, personal trainers, basketball court and running track, free snacks and drinks, Friday lunches, games and rec area, on-site car wash, profit-sharing, etc. This company is not full of micro-managing bosses and TPS reports. You don't clock in and clock out (if you're full-time/salaried). You show up, get your work done, and head home when you're ready. That means you can go to that doctor's appointment or stop and grab breakfast, but you might also be prepared to work late once in a while.

Cons

The application process is a bit tough and confusing. The company is looking for the absolute best, but in doing that, they tend to alienate some really good candidates. Also, HCSS is growing rapidly, which has its own set of challenges. There's some miscommunication, but that's nothing that doesn't exist in other companies.
