Pros

Good pay compared to similar jobs. Management is respectful and helpful, even when you're new. Paid and detailed training before you start work. They are not "too corporate".

Cons

Pay day is bi-weekly, this can either be a con or a pro depending on your preferences. I tried being promoted to Customer Service (working on the floor), but it seems like they believe women are not capable of doing a good job.

Pros

Learned a lot of new skills. Employees are friendly and easy to get along with. Customers are very friendly and loyal to the company.

Cons

HD supply has two types of employees; full time and part time. Full time employees get a higher salary and benefits while part time employees get pay minimum wage and zero benefits. All new employees start as part time and of course strive to become a full time employee to get paid more, and get health benefits. After working at HD supply for a year now , I can say this company doesn't have any room for personal growth. A year working here and I'm still stuck at being a part time worker with minimum wage and no health benefits. The company doesn't want any part-time employees to become a full- time employee so they don't have to pay more $ and give healthy benefits. Similar to Circuit city practices , they rather hired new unexperienced workers than to promote hard working , loyal , employees that been there for ages working with empty promises of one day moving up within the company. All part time employees must work holidays without being paid time and a half. Although this is legal, this practice is very unethical. Even fast food chains pay their workers time-and-a-half for working holidays!! when you ask for a raise or for a full time position , management simply state that business is slow and sales are down. Yet the next day they hire new workers. Simply unethical , shady business practices. How do they expect us employees to be positive and loyal when they don't reward us for being the catalyst for the company?

Pros

11 divisions can allow for transfers/promotions between divisions

Cons

Downturn in construction industry. Positions filled without being advertised. Several VPs demoted filling taking away promotion opportunities.
