Pros

Great WTF embrace, good pay and benefits

Cons

Micromanaging from the top down -- leaders are extremely corporate and a terrible match for the product -- no vision or direction, extremely reactive and poor communication Engineers and sales run amuck -- Too many engineers working on too many superficial projects. Sales pushing numbers that may not be realistic Aggressive evangelization of culture -- HR is completely out of control. Massive amounts of time and money are spent on "experts" in current sensitivity issues in what is obviously lucrative business model. Overly politicizing culture in a pretentious attempt by senior leaders to appear "woke".

Thank you sharing this review of your current experience. We realize that like many organizations, there will always be room and opportunity for improvement, but know we are actively working on these areas over time and are committed to change. As I have very recently stepped into leadership of the People Ops/HR side of P&P in the last couple of weeks, I wonder if you would be open to connecting confidentially for me to learn more about your experience as a means to more meaningful action being taken? - If so, I'd be really grateful - please feel free to reach out via email or Slack. Following our most recent employee engagement survey, leaders have and will be coming together across the org to take critical action around our Top 3 areas of focus of employee feedback (Performance Evaluation, Decision-Making & Communication). Which I hope will truly start to organically address some of the more adverse and challenging experiences you've outlined around direction and communication. Functional leaders (have or) will be setting time to review and hear from their teams regarding key team-level insights on the most important areas that have been identified for action through the survey. Many thanks SP Simon Perry Senior Director, People Operations + Places

Pros

- Most people are incredibly smart and kind, and focused on improving the mental health and happiness of our members

Cons

- New CEO has destroyed the culture that kept so many people on board at Headspace. We have always been a fast paced and high growth environment, but most have stayed because of the work/life balance perks like MindDays and no meeting fridays. The new CEO has taken all of those away, along with eliminating integral roles within the organization, resulting in even more work for those of us who survived the layoffs - Moving therapists away from benefits-eligible positions to contractors will severely hurt the quality of care given to our members. Pre-merger, Ginger stood out in the market because of the way we took care of our care team. With the latest decisions, it is clear that our care team is disposable and we are just like any other EAP - The product is poor. Leadership in the product arm of the business is so focused on trying to make money through consumer subscriptions, that our b2b member experience is sub-par and confusing. - Leadership is lacking across the entire organization, with those at the top too focused on themselves and not their teams - Headspace has peaked, and now the focus on making money will further strip away every good thing about the product and the people. It is a sinking ship.

Pros

- Every other Friday off

Cons

- Laid someone off during maternity leave - 4 rounds of layoffs in 14 months - $5,000 to $10,000 worth of benefits cuts in the last year - No bonus payout - No raises or promotions - HIPAA violations in companywide Slack channels by executives (everyone can see the PHI) - CEO’s friends get paid a lot to belittle their colleagues and talk down to people - Multiple people say they cry regularly related to working here - When they lay off therapists, they ghost the people with therapy appointments, which is traumatizing for those people. - Last time during layoffs an app user came out as LGBTQ and got ghosted because the therapist was laid off.
