Great mission, disappointing management

Pros

- Great talent. You'll work with some of the best designers, engineers, etc . - Good perks - catered lunches, free snacks, twice daily meditations

Cons

- A LOT of organizational issues and bureaucracy for a small company - Managers are resistant to healthy opposition to ideas that would benefit the company - False leadership. VPs will put mid-level managers in place for show, but mid-levels don't actually have any say or weight to throw around to advocate for their team - Top down decision making - A lot of discussions happening behind closed doors - Managers are not transparent and honest with employees - Managers are self-serving and self-promoting. They don't focus on employee growth and happiness. - No checks and balances. Despite the company preaching an anti-anonymous review culture, managers can order anonymous 360 reviews on employees any time, but there are no channels for employees to review their managers without risking retaliation - No review structure - No structure or predictability around promotion cycles

Pros

Meaningful product space with real impact on mental health and wellbeing.

Cons

After the new CPO joined, the environment changed quickly and noticeably. There was a consistent assumption of incompetence unless ideas originated directly from her. Perspectives that didn’t align with her point of view weren’t treated as healthy debate: they were sidelined. Over time, people stopped speaking up. It also became increasingly clear that the focus was not on developing the existing team, but on replacing it. A large number of experienced, high-performing employees left in a short period of time. The pattern was hard to ignore. At the same time, there was a strong and visible preference for hiring from Amazon specifically. If you’re not already in that network, good luck. Psychological safety deteriorated significantly. Many people did not feel heard, trusted, or supported, and access to leadership became limited. For a company whose mission centers on compassion and mental wellbeing, the disconnect was striking.

Pros

the only pro is a remote first company

Cons

Poor leadership, they are cruel and enjoy watching their staff suffer and struggle. They are dishonest and lacking in moral judgement and expect that staff should be okay with this behavior. They consistently ask coaches to act against the ethical codes that their professional organizations espouse.
