Pros

Amazing coworkers, excellent healthcare, remote work

Cons

It feels like the company has fallen away from its vision in many ways, very money/metrics driven vs. patient experience. Upper leadership never seems to know what’s actually going on in the care side of things, it seems like a mistake to fill upper leadership roles with people who don’t have experience leading healthcare organizations. Benefits have been eroding over time to the point I was functionally making less in 2024 than I was in 2023. Members of the care team are incredible and driven but mid/upper leadership feels very out of touch and misaligned with the company’s supposed mission.

Pros

The mission first and foremost, the significantly positive and life changing impact for our members and clients, a strong brand and culture that includes the most diverse set of coworkers I’ve had spanning clinical and tech, and benefits are great despite the complaints about what used to be. Additional pros are actually tied into cons below.

Cons

More Headspace employees need to embrace change and innovation. Everyone has their own experience and all should be considered as valid but *for me* these negative reviews sound far worse than the reality of working here, which is a pro but the con is feeling toxicity behind closed doors. We have a higher bar of expectations working at a mental health company and that’s a good thing to drive positive change, however it’s important to remember this is still a business. Companies now need to be scalable and profitable to survive. The mission and profitability aren’t mutually exclusive. They can’t be. And Al must be embraced to improve this industry. If you aren’t happy or no longer feel aligned here, if you’re burned out and have had a bad experience, please do what you can to find more happiness for yourself somewhere else and give room for people to join who want to be here, who believe in what we’re doing and the direction we’re going. Why do people blame the new CEO on a round of layoffs at the beginning of his tenure when layoffs happened multiple times leading up to it?

- consistent removal of initial benefits - leaders in some departments look for blame instead of solutions - overall direction of the company is muddy
