Pros

Employees generally care a lot about each other and are generally friendly and very supportive. The coaches are talented, experienced people and most of the programmers are very skilled. The company products like the decision aids win tons of awards and are great. The pay is very good, benefits are acceptable (better a few yrs ago but still okay), and work schedule is flexible. The company mission is great.

Cons

About half of the director and senior directors are skilled kiss ups that lack creative problem solving skills and vision. Sometimes their immediate reports like them well enough because they are "nice" to them, but nice is not enough for people in other departments that rely on those teams to contribute to the company's future. The company let go several strong technical people capable of doing real work in the last round of layoffs, while still retaining a fair number of paper pushers that don't have tangible skills.

Pros

Most of the technical people are actually quite knowledgeable, competent and smart. Super friendly too. It's when ppl get the word "Director" in their title... that's when things take a wrong turn. I don't think anyone in the company history ever complained that the pay isn't great. One of the highest paying employers around. Flexible hours and awesome work-life balance.

Cons

Forget about growth opportunities. Nonexistent. 4 years ago there were 1800+ employees. Today the number barely crosses 500. Layoffs every 6 months on average for the past 4 years. We might actually be able to break some dubious record in 2012 with 3 layoffs in one calendar year. But it wasn't always this bad. When I started here, the company was doing quite good. Failure to innovate was it's demise. Constant political battles up top. I have seen first hand that all it takes is a handful of selfish senior level execs to absolutely destroy a company. I have seen a top level exec in charge of a legacy system instruct his directs to do whatever they can to sabotage the development of a new system. Go figure. The CXOs must realize that it's "innovate-or-die". That's how this country was built. This company forgot that a long time ago and as a result, it is probably going to close its doors soon. RIP Health Dialog.

Pros

Low stress, good salary and benefits, great flexibility for time off, generous vacation policy Fairly easy job

Cons

Work can get a little boring. Too many changes to keep up with. Evaluations can be too picky and demoralizing. Dialog very scripted, can't really be yourself and use your skills to the fullest
