Pros

The people are very nice. Especially if you are a member of the predominant culture in this State. If so, you will do much better than if not. Loyalty is the prevailing feature of this company. More important than skill, accomplishments, or contributions. Put in your time, don't offend anyone, and you will probably do well. If you can only get hired.

Cons

Everyone complains about pay everywhere you go, that's just a fact. But HEQ’s salaries are simply not competitive with others in the area. At least below the Director level. For everything above entry-level, to mid-level management, starting pay isn't stellar. At Dir level & above, salaries are fairly competitive and can even be generous when factoring in stock and options.

Thank you for your review of HealthEquity on Glassdoor. You certainly have significant experiences or insights that were shared in your detailed response. We appreciate team members taking the time to professionally dialogue on their experiences in effort to work together to create better outcomes. Thank you for your detailed feedback. Happy to talk more specifics regarding the benefits package and hiring so please reach out to People Team for better mutual understanding. In short on benefits, we do robust benchmarking and do find our full benefits offering to be fairly generous compared to benchmarking. That said, not all team members will value certain benefits the same way. On recruiting, I get the sentiment behind your feedback. This is an opportunity to better partner and calibrate together to produce better outcomes.

Thank you for your review of HealthEquity on Glassdoor. Your title implies a lot for me that I actually find quite encouraging. You're absolutley right that HealthEquity can be a good/great/remarkable place with changes. And the opportunity is to have productive feedback from team members and leadership that genuinely listens and engages in the feedback. No one person will have all the answers so it takes a collection of team members working together to problem solve and create opportunities for an even better working environment.

Great place to work, but beware!

Pros

Great team, I really enjoyed the people I have worked with here. I immediately felt like I was part of a close knit group, almost family like. I will be sad to leave. There are multiple locations and they provide the tools to make sure that everyone can collaborate effectively despite the distance. The benefits are amazing! I have been spoiled and will never be able to go to another company and feel the same about benefits. A large company generally means more stability, but that is not the case now that the company has been acquired.

Cons

Lack of trust in the new management. HealthEquity management came in saying they were not going to be the 'conquerors', they had meetings telling people not to leave because there was 'so much work to do' and 'we don't have enough people as it is to get it all done' and then suddenly laid off a bunch of people. Right before Christmas. Their managers were never notified of this before it happened, or their director. They found out as their staff went to HR. A bunch of people were given future lay-off dates. After they announced all of this they had an all hands meeting where people were expected to cheer (loudly) about laying-off their friends and co-workers because it meant they would get more money in 'bonuses'. Since a bunch of people hadn't actually left yet, they had to watch everyone cheer about getting rid of them. It was tone deaf and heartless. I would normally just be annoyed and not write a review at all, but they are still hiring people, and at the location they are getting rid of! They have made offhand comments that suggest they are planning more lay-offs in San Mateo. They shouldn't be hiring ANYONE if they can't be sure the position will be there long term. It doesn't seem like anyone is safe and HealthEquity doesn't seem to be big on honesty, transparency, or empathy.
