Pros

Some managers are incredibly supportive of the effort to move software practices into the 21st century. If your manager is one such, you have a lot of opportunity to help define the technology stack of your upcoming project. In general, everyone up to C-level management is supportive of innovation and modernization. Top-notch benefits.

Cons

There are a nontrivial number of engineers (and managers) who want to continue building software using the same tech stack and engineering process that they were using in 2007. Their reactions range from dismissive to condescending when confronted about modernization. This ranges from using modern technologies like spring-boot to using modern development practices like code reviews and version control.

Pros

- HealthPartners is well-known in Minnesota - decent reputation - Plenty of PTO with ability to purchase additional days

Cons

- Management vocalizes negative attitude and stereotypes of millenials consistently - Very resistant to change - "This is the way we have always done it." - Senior managers should quit micromanaging on subject matter they have no knowledge of. You're essentially leading completely blind - $15-$25 Target gift card for Christmas bonus is a weak gesture - Age discrimination - Management allows older employees to work from home when they desire - Lack of trust - I was going through a very rough time dealing with extreme chronic pain and my manager wouldn't believe me because my doctors couldn't diagnose my issue with 100% certainty. Management decided to force me to use PTO if I wanted to work from home for 1-2 hours after my recurring 4:00PM appointments (twice a month). I intentionally scheduled my appointments in late afternoon so I wouldn't disrupt things too much. Management was completely fine with older employees working from home for no reason, but had a problem with me because of my medical issues - Poor health insurance

Pros

Vacation time is fair - insurance benefits are fair

Cons

Nepotism is abundant at Healthpartners - Managers can be found at local bars and events with a select group of employee - if you are not part of that group you will eventually be looking for another place of employment - CDHP makes a habit of firing long term employees
