With diversity being one of Hensel Phelps’ five core values, we take your review very seriously. Hensel Phelps does not support a negative work environment and we strive to ensure all our employees feel confident and comfortable in their roles. Hensel Phelps recognizes the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as within our industry. In 85 years of business, we have always invested in our No. 1 priority—our people. Recognizing the positive impact of diversity and inclusion, Hensel Phelps has developed multiple support programs, including WNet, a leadership network of women within the company; and VNet, comprised of military veterans. These groups support employees in our districts, working to maintain internal morale, employee engagement, and community ties through outreach, mentoring, and advancement-related efforts. This past year, all Hensel Phelps employees were required to participate in a Respectful Workplace training--further educating our teams on the importance of creating an inclusive and respectful environment. In addition to internal programs, Hensel Phelps supports the Society of Women in Engineering (SWE), the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Hensel Phelps has been recognized for these continued efforts, receiving Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) National Diversity Excellence Awards six of the past eight years, as well as Associated General Contractors’ (AGC) Champion of Diversity Award. Pros

Very good benefits if you are able to stay with the company.

Cons

Will work 60+ hours a week. Culture that allows superintendents and foremen to verbally abuse field engineers. Training is solely dependent on the person who's job you are taking. That is, if the person who's job you are moving into does not fully understand their position, you will be completely out of luck.

Pros

Most who work for HP on the "traditional HP path" are well versed in the requirements of all positions since they have held them at one point themselves. Pay is comparable with the industry standards. Opportunities for learning and career growth are plentiful. Company looks to keep its employees happy and secure.

Cons

The projects are so large that you only get to touch small portions of the overall system. Also, the processes are designed to make each member of the team interchangeable with the next, which leaves little room for personalization. Additionally, the employee has little say in the location of the project they are assigned. You never know where you have to move to next. You will be required to work much more than a 40 hour work week to be successful.
