Pros

I like my co-workers. The whole team is a very diverse bunch. I like getting to know everyone and their background story. The Hilton travel program is amazing. I travelled abroad and got a top class hotel for cheap. I can ask for more hours if I wish from my manager if I wish! This is a plus if I need the extra cash!

Cons

My roster is not suitable every single week. I have to negotiate the times every week which is stressful. My manager does not listen to me. Tip are terrible.. I hate functions so much. They are just awful. There are no tips being handed out to staff from the functions which is very suspicious. There is a high staff turnover which can be stressful. All the staff that leave all have to have the same problem too..

Pros

Hilton has a clear and strong vision where the company is going. It is up-to-date and leads the trend. The company engaged me in everyway - culture,activities,initiatives and being an HR and Training, we engaged in many of activities that made us feel that we are not only a hospitality company but we do care for things and people around. This has changed my perceptions towards works that life is not just about getting paid by money but if it has fulfilled our lives in other ways an you can return something back to people and community, this is more a rewarding work. Hilton does care how we take care our team members and encourages us to must do good things to our team. They aim high to be best and we are thrilled waiting to see how the company is growing up.

Cons

They came up with too many initiatives sometimes and we cannot find the focus and make it best. Being the worldwide company and American base, there are many times the country that does not speak English as a mother language can find a challenge that we cannot follow all our brand standard but we are forced to do so without being able to get our team to understand this in depth. However, the company tried to get all the resources and materials in the local languages.

Pros

Global company that makes it easy to transfer to different properties around the world. Amazing online university with thousands of free development courses. Stafftravel is very cheap and convenient - on average the rate is 35$ for focused service brands, 45$ for full service brands and 55$ for luxury and lifestyle brands.

Cons

Properties can be franchised, can be managed or owned, so depending on the property you work at (especially abroad) the owners (not Hilton) can pretty much do whatever they want to the staff.
