Pros

Nice coworkers but does not make up for the core issues within the company.

Cons

Multiple layoffs of departments and down sizing due to incompetence of leaders. Rampant with sexual harassments and discriminations issues. Expect a lot of mansplaining. Most would call it a white boys club. Tons of high levels that add no value and are only still there because of protected positions due to mergers. More meetings than substance. Human Resources department that harass and discriminate against their own employees. Expect very low raises and a annual review process that takes multiple weeks to complete. Expect to spend most of the days in meetings unable to do actual job tasks

Pros

Many excellent individuals, who help to deliver a great experience for their customers. Reasonable with work/life balance, if boundaries are set by the employee. Competitive salaries and benefits. Lots of intellectual property, processes, to help expedite projects. Again, some really stellar individuals to learn from, and with.

Cons

Leadership is sterile and culture is lacking. Projects often poorly scoped and/or staffed, causing undue stress on high performers as they try to salvage things on behalf of their customers. Poor hand-offs between sales, delivery, and support, leading to confusion and churn. The further you get from the point of sale, the worse the experience is for both the customer and employee. No sense of purpose, besides meeting billable expectations set by leadership. The old CEO (Tom Galambos) was personable, but the current CEO (Jerry Hawk) is cold and distant. They traded the personal touches for economic efficiency, and now everyone suffers.

Pros

Working remotely, flexible schedule, many tools at your disposal, wide variety of projects.

Cons

It’s concerning that Hitachi is promoting and investing in the Empower program - which is an extremely dysfunctional program with inept leadership. The leadership of Empower is grasping at straws to keep the product afloat and won’t think twice before throwing his team under the bus if it puts him in a positive light. Empower leadership doesn’t have any trust in the developers to do their work, leadership is extremely micromanaging and feels the need to “sign off” on minuscule details. Communication is nonexistent. Important team updates are only shared with a select few but most developers are in the dark about most things. There is not any form of team structure or job responsibilities. An Empower "scientist" is partaking in duties such as outlining interview guidelines, writing blogs, and trying to market nonexistent product features to internal and external stakeholders. Save yourself the headache and stay away from Empower.
