Odd Place

Pros

Decent pay for not having to think. Plenty of Beautiful, bored, housewives to flirt with.

Cons

Mindless work. Pointless busy work assigned daily... No true shrink numbers. If it breaks, you just toss it in the trash. Very odd if you are use to normal retail SOP.

Revolving Door!

Pros

Overtime, very nice design center, employee perks (food, prizes etc). Late starting time to allow parents to get kids off to school. Food trucks on premises. Large working spaces.

Cons

Be prepared to be a production artist robot! Churn, churn, churn it out and if you make small errors, (which can be plenty due to the EXTREME workload and ridiculous turnaround times) you might as well start looking for another job. The BATCH process is extremely stressful!!! This place has HIGH TURNOVER and they are always hiring due to the firing and quitting of graphic designers. Always looking for more designers on Indeed, allll the time. This may not be true for others, but the training was inadequate. A month of on-the-job training is desperately needed for the extreme deadlines. Revolving door at it's finest. Freshly graduating designers, (looking at you award winning UCO students) DON'T DO IT. Majority of the items in Hobby Lobby is not American made (majority China). Products are then re-labeled and/or recreated to US standards and then sold in stores.

Pros

Decent pay, Closed on Sundays

Cons

The Managers run this place like it's their Personal playground. They Act like they care about everyone at first , but once the honeymoon is over, they start treating you like you're their slave. There is no equality among employees, the managers play favorites, & they belittle their staff. On a daily basis, you can hear the managers verbally abusing the staff to enforce submission to their ever changing rules and demands. Instead of giving constructive criticism, or approaching situations with maturity and underatanding, the manager will just come at you out of left field, and tell you things like "everyone here tells me they don't like you", and "I'll fire you if you get any more customer complaints", but he won't show you any proof that you have had a complaint, nor will he give you any opportunity to defend your innocence. The Co Manager will carry on loud NSFW conversations while she meanders about the store gossiping with her buddies, and her use of profanity, and racist remarks make the staff very uncomfortable. She has very demeaning conversations with her "favorite staff /clique members" about the other staff members , & will also say horrible , cutting remarks about the customers when they leave. The irony is, that while her behavior is outrageous and completely immature, she will not batt an eyelash as she brutally rakes a lower employee over the coals for something small like questioning why their schedule was changed, and she also often lies to the Manager about the employees , to suit her own agendas, & to hide her own mistakes. The Manager gets angry when a good employee gives their two weeks resignation, and in a fit of spite he will lie to everyone, and say that the person was fired. He will then use his lie as an "example" to threaten the current employees into submission- "do what I say ,or you'll get fired too, just like I fired so & so". Although most of us knew he was lieing, this was still really upsetting for everyone. He also treats his younger female assistant managers like they're his personal slaves, and demands they work extra shifts at his whim, even if they've previously requested time off for personal matters. He gets outrageously upset when someone calls in sick, & he then belittles their work ethic, and talks trash about them to the other staff while they're on leave, and they have no way to defend themselves. He also spoke with disdain about one of our assistant managers while she was on maternity leave earlier this year, saying things like "she was wasting his budget for the hours paid out , with no labor return", and he said that "pregnant women are a burden to businesses ". This is supposed to be a " Christian" company, and yet our managers run their store with contempt for their employees, and customers, and do not follow any Godly principles. The only god they worship is their sales numbers ... it's a very dissappointing atmosphere to be stuck in day after day, and I hope to escape soon..
