Pros

Good pay, Sundays off, store closes at 8 so you get out earlier than other stores.

Cons

The management is taught that their employees are "cogs in the machine", nothing more. They care absolutely nothing about you as a human being. You are worked like a dog (my last day I was on my hands and knees scrubbing baseboards!), you are given 6 tasks to do at once, they all have to be done yesterday, and you can forget about getting a simple word of encouragement. Thank God I'm out of there.

Pros

Pay, 401K program, closed on Sundays, some great co-workers

Cons

Out-dated cash registers (no scanners), usually understaffed, too much favoritism, co-mgr tells a certain dept head about things going on (someone about to get fired, etc), who then tells other employees what is going on...not very professional at all!, not enough cashiers=floor staff having to stop what they are doing to go and ring on a register, truck day is AWFUL! We are never given enough time to complete tasks that need to be done in our own departments, because we are always given some kind of task to do. When sales are low, mgmt sends some employees home early, leaving us very understaffed when closing...so much to do, with so few people. Our hours should not be based on sales!

Pros

Pay and benefits were pretty great for an entry-level employee. I started out around $12/hr while on the 90 day probation period, after which I was bumped up to $15.75/hr. Vacation and PTO were also pretty good. The day was 8-4:30, which I liked because I could usually beat the 5pm traffic heading home. I never had to work during my breaks, past my shift, or on the weekend. The work/life balance was nice. They have food trucks come around lunch time many days of the week, which is nice because the nearest food establishment is too far to go to and back during your 30-minute lunch break. They also have a clinic on-site for their employees and their families which is nice.

Cons

My manager wasn't the best, she was a people-pleaser to the extreme and never really solved issues. When I left, I helped train my replacements, one of which was a terrible employee. I told my manager and she did nothing, and I later heard that employee stayed nearly a year and never improved. The Green family and Hobby Lobby have very Christian values, and if you don't agree with those you just have to suck it up, which is awkward sometimes. There are oftentimes protesters near the buildings, protesting the values of the Green family. Lastly, another issue is that the Green family HATE unions, and there is anti-union propaganda in the break rooms and in the hallways.
