Pros
I was chosen by a wonderful GM for this position even though I had little experience with it. I was given the time and the tools needed to learn and become proficient. I now oversee the whole housekeeping department . I gave garnered the respect of all 13 of my staff and they work hard for me because I show them respect and appreciation in return. My GM takes time for me whenever I come calling and she makes me feel appreciated as well.
Cons
Being on salary is hard because I am not one of those lazy manager's. I actually work all day and really hard. So I am often at work far past the time that I am paid for. Also I have to work one week with only one day off which means that I work a straight seven full days and then get one day off then the next week I get two days. So it is work seven get one off, work four get two off. The amount of work that I do makes me feel like I should be getting paid more. Now as for my girls who hit that floor everyday, they definitely deserve to get paid more than seven dollars and twenty five cents an hour.
