Wonderful Management

Pros

The managers seem to really care and want you to succeed as a new graduate nurse. It's a wonderful community hospital who really treat everyone very nice. Patients generally have a positive experience and everyone is so friendly to each other. It's like one big family. Love the infused water that is offered.

Cons

The HR department can't get their information on the same page. You can ask two HR reps the same question and get two different answers. The health insurance is Health New England which is very expensive for people who need the higher insurance coverage.

Phlebotomy

Pros

This is a good place to get your foot in the door if you are a NEW Phlebotomist. You will learn a lot due to the other employees passing off their work load but as soon as you gain enough experience to find work elsewhere, RUN FOR THE DOOR! if you have experience, don't waste your time. Go somewhere where you'll be paid what your worth.

Cons

To sum up the phlebotomy department specifically: IT SUCKS!! I If you are not personal friends with with the female supervisor or don't figure it out in time to kiss her and her cliques' butts, you will get no where fast. Almost all new employees are treated as gofers and the worst thing you can do is stand up for yourself about it. It's easy to get burned out in this dept. because the supervisor will assign duties that only her friends are trained to do which require you to sit down at a computer or general busy work, while everyone else is going to every floor and department of the hospital to collect blood from patients. The same people have the same two hours of computer time every day. When asked to be trained to do the things that the "clique" gets to do, the excuse is always "it's too busy." In other words, 'I need you to keep working so my friends can keep slacking.' New positions that become available are quietly posted and filled so that the friends of the supervisors get them before any one even knows there was even a new position, whether they have more seniority or not. No one that the supervisor is friends with has anything damaging in their employee file, no matter how habitually late they are or how many mistakes are made. It always gets covered up, but to anyone outside of the circle, everything is documented, no matter how big or small the incident. Lastly, as much as they will deny it, most of the "clique" are straight up racists, mostly against hispanics or any one who can't understand or speak English.
