Thank you for posting a review and for recognising the culture and values at HomeServe. You’ve not included a lot of information with regard to your cons, but I’ll try to answer as best I can. HomeServe is a 24 hour business and this means that shift patterns, as well as staffing levels are created to best fit the needs of our Customers as well as the People who work at HomeServe, I’m sorry this didn’t quite fit for you. Your feedback is really important, and I’m sorry to read that you felt like there was too much pressure, I’m not sure if you raised this with your line manager as we do have support for colleagues, and staff wellbeing is really important to us. I’d really appreciate the opportunity to learn more, and if you’d like to talk further about your experience with HomeServe, please get in touch. Pros

The people were good, I really enjoyed working within my network team for a short period of time but things changed. Some Managers are very people driven and will go out their way to help you, I enjoyed my time with my colleagues and enjoyed helping people. I received a number of star nominations during my time there so it was nice to feel appreciated. the Senior Leaders were good very motivational and helped you understand the vision and goals, I got to participate in contractor roadshows, and even attended the cascades which were really good. it was a shame some of the middle management just didn't get it and never really demonstrated living the values or even trying to promote them. Put your people first. I think they found it difficult to give praise or celebrate success, towards the end it was only about figures and never about the customer any recognition given on what we did to achieve them.

Cons

My actual manager would walk past me and not even say hello and he hired me, I wasn't doing what I was bought in to do and my concerns and ideas were never listened to nor addressed. I felt someone in a senior management position was really letting HomeServe down and not treating people fairly, I tried to resolve it but no one cared. it was such a shame because my previous manager was a great leader and I actually loved coming into work and felt like I was making a difference and always praised for effort. I felt included as part of the wider business. its the simple things which matter the most. Appointing good leaders will make the biggest difference so keep hold of them.

Thank you for taking the time to post such a constructive and detailed review. I’m really pleased that a lot of what you experienced in your time at HomeServe was positive. I am concerned though about some of the things you feel weren’t right for you. There are always two sides to every story but what you have said is certainly not how I would want someone in my team to feel and therefore I’d really welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you. My email address is richard.shepherd@homeserve.com – please do drop me a line.

Pros

The people - the guys & team managers on the floor are fantastic. So welcoming. It's like a little family.

Cons

You get any higher than your direct line manager and they have no idea. They are sneaky and will sail you down the river to progress themselves.

Absolutely express a view, make a personal attack on a leader if that is your thing but make sure you get your facts right and make your review an honest one. When you don’t do this, you forfeit your right to get a reasonable and reasoned response.
