you get to drive about a lot, and fix things for people

Cons

rank and yank culture, treated like chattel. this is right from the top down, if you aint selling then you are not worthy or anyones time. Pay is rubbish for what you have to do

Hi, thanks for your post and thanks for being there for our Customers everyday. Feedback is always good to receive but while I am not on the front line like you, there were some things in your comments that are different to my own experience. I'll admit I didn't know what a "rank and yank culture" was until I googled it. And now I have it's certainly not something that I recognise in our business. Also, I'd be really keen to know what your observation about selling is based on because, again, that's absolutely not what we are like, particularly for engineers who don't sell anything, other than an effortless experience for our Customers. Biggest concern for me though is that you feel that your view of our culture is driven from the 'top down'. I have never worked in a company that is more focused on our People, and through our People, on our Customers. That is what our strategy, and our People and Customer charters are all about. And our CEO stands behind every word of them and brings them to life everyday. And, as an aside, I don't think there is a bigger champion of engineers in the business. We have our regular all-company cascades coming up soon - hopefully you'll have the opportunity to hear again about where we are on our journey and just how critical our front line engineers are to our success.

Pros

Great leaders who are accessible to people at all levels. They are passionate about the people and their customers. They provide a clear vision and goals and an environment where everyone is empowered to deliver and make a difference to the customer and the business.

Cons

The changes in the way of working and environment seen in Marketing over the last few years have not been adopted 100% by all departments yet. But change is definitely happening.
