The place to be if your "face fits"

Pros

The business is set for a positive future with a clear and strong strategy. Management have made massive efforts to communicate the strategy and get everyone on board. This is the first place I have worked where the strategy is so well clear amongst all colleagues.

Cons

Some serious game playing among senior management. Bringing in people from previous companies regardless of their ability to fulfil the role, completely disregarding hr processes to do so or salary banding. The words "face doesn't fit" are thrown around way too comfortably. Does that mean your gender, colour, background, religion - god only knows! If it doesn't fit, you will be pushed out of the biz. Either by pay off or failing your objectives. Every individual has their own agenda which is being pushed ahead of the good of the business which is a real shame. A draining place to work. Constantly looking over your shoulder. Each for their own environment. Not nice.

Pros

Customer focus really is at the heart of HomeServe now. Every day people change things for the better for customers and those who work there. As someone who has worked there for a number of years in more than one department I really believe we have turned a corner. Lots of benefits too. Free parking, gym membership, Starbucks and people to work with who are not only passionate about making a difference but empowered to do it!

Cons

There are still a few blockers hidden in dark corners. They need to be helped to come along with us or move on.

Pros

The positive change the company is going through. It's clear to see that the company are recognising us as indivuduals as well as staff. The atmosphere has changed dramatically over the last 2 years, all for the better. the people are fantastic, the management team are all really approachable for the most part. It's great knowing where you stand thanks to all the updates we receive. with the introduction of email and yammer into the work place its very easy to voice a question or opinion to an open board.

Cons

whilst communication is better than it used to be there are times where it can be frustrating trying to find out who the person is you need to speak to or who will have the answer. there is a a bit of a divide between some departments, for example between inbound and outbound, we're all rowing the same boat, lets make sure everyones oars are in the same water. food is a little on the expensive side, I paid virtually £3 for a sausage sandwich in the canteen, must have been some pig. some internal processes can be a bit of a confusion/ "face palm" at times, absence process for example - more than 6 days over 12 months, or more than 3 periods of absence to trigger a warning. So more than 3x1 day off over a year means you trigger a warning... may as well make the most of it and have 3 periods of 2 days off and still be no worse off. it just kinda leads you to wanting to take the extra time.
