Pros

HomeServe is a company that does generally recognise and reward hard work. The short term past has been dark but I think the senior team have a good plan for our future and crucially this is actually being shared for once. The strategy we are following has taken us from non customer centric to too customer fluffy to where we are now which is treating Customers the way we should to make us a strong business commercially and principally. The work is quite varied in some areas so there are always new challenges to keep your mind occupied and your career developing. Some of the things we have planned for the future look very exciting. We're moving the right direction and it's great to be a part of that.

Cons

Expectations are high and we are still on our way back from the brink, so there isn't a great deal of room for getting it wrong, this does bring a lot of pressure. Saying that we are getting back to a culture where testing and learning (even if the learning is that something doesn't work) is accepted as part of the process of improvement. I do think that there are a great number of brown nosers emerging in the business. People who say the right things to the right people but actually do very little. There are some otherwise very intelligent leaders in this business that are totally blinded to this and instead view these people as shining lights. There are plenty of us that could completely neglect our day jobs to flounce around all day regurgitating rhetoric.

Pros

The pepople make it a fun place to work, good remuneration package. Good managers do recognise talent and harness it, more recently there is focus on development at all levels. A clear strategy has been shared by senior management and there are lots of changes to make this happen. 'Customer focussed' aren't just words there are initiatives in place to encourage all employees to suggest ways to improve things for customers. Senior Management are no longer out of reach as they have been previously, they encourage questions and feedback.

Cons

Inductions when moving to new roles within the business could be improved. Secondments can go on for too long (there should be a maximum period of time). Technology has been in the dark ages (this is getting better).
