Pros

You know your customers because chances are they are right down the street or nearby in a city you’re visiting. We help local businesses and the people here get energized by that. Teammates are approachable and the company tries to keep folks connected even though people are in different offices or working from home. Leadership is accessible to the team. Shares information about company performance openly and encourages people to travel to meet up.

Cons

Nothing crazy comes to mind. As the company has gotten bigger, you sometimes can feel disconnected to other teams since not everyone knows everyone’s name and role anymore.

Rollin' With My Homies!

Pros

I've been a "Homie" for a bit more than a year and I really like it here. I feel we are very mission driven from the bottom to the top (help small businesses) and it's a great group of people to work with. Our leadership team is very transparent with how the business is doing (the good and the not as good) and have created a culture of hard work and having fun. Every single employee can make a difference in how Homebase is doing if they are willing to work hard and find solutions (instead of just pointing out problems). I feel like the people here (all the way through the leadership team) genuinely care about me and my well-being as a human, and not just as an employee. I'm very happy at Homebase and feel excited about the future.

Cons

Most similar companies (small VC backed tech companies) offer flexible PTO policies, so having to once again manage days off is tedious, especially in your first year while you are accumulating days. They have recently taken some steps to try to improve on this policy.

Pros

Homebase is full of the most amazing people I have worked with in my career. Everyone is so lovely and just really interesting and smart. The organization is mission-driven so the work we are doing has a purpose. I was lucky enough to be promoted at Homebase reasonably quickly, showing how they are willing to recognize and reward hard work, dedication and talent. The executive team is extremely accessible. They are busy people but more than willing to have conversations with team members of all levels. They care about Homebase and the people who work here which is rare to find.

Cons

Things are not perfect. We have some growing pains as we scale. The benefits could be better, compensation could be more competitive. We need more structure and processes in many departments. We experience some burnout, which is typical at this start-up level. But, when you need time off, you can take it and fully disconnect and someone will cover you.
