      Making a difference with students

      Pros

      Everyday I get to work with kids from Kindergarten to HS, and the occasional Adult students. It's amazing how our teachers and staff truly help students do better in school. I've seen non- readers become advance readers & kids with no confidence in math, soar to enjoy it. HS kids that thought graduation wasn't an option to getting a Regents diploma to SAT kids get into their college choices & going up hundreds of points. Being with HLC for 10+yrs makes me think about all the kids and families I've helped...thousands! I'm hope I'm here another 10+yrs, at least.

      Cons

      FT- long hours per day, some out dated materials, short staffed with PT teachers, and more small group professional development trainings for FT.

      Getting to help kids everyday, no lesson planning, always something to do, very little work on the weekends, getting to close at 8

      Crazy parents sometimes, not enough time spent with kids

      Pros

      This is the most rewarding job I've ever had. After being in education for 23 years and then coming here I get to work with children everyday and see the skills and confidence applied and see how they succeed in school and help each child/family gain the best education possible in a small environment. Great colleagues, and awesome bosses to work for. Love what I do everyday. You never know what each day will bring to the table--very, very rewarding and fulfilling career with a salary and commission incentives.
