Working in HELL

Pros

You have a job to survive and pay your bills

Cons

I have never IN MY LIFE, HATED a job so much.EVERYTHING comes down to making a dollar. Its NEVER really about helping a child get better, its about making sure that we always keep in touch to make them come back and get more money. Even the cheap holiday breakfast, comes down to them talking about money and how WE can do better to make them....MORE MONEY. Higher management have to be one of the most MEAN SPIRITED, BACKWARDS, COWARDLY, IDIOTIC people I have met in my life. I am convinced that they know major dirt because there is no way in hell, someone this backwards and illiterate still has a job. They get off on making people cry and disrespecting them, but then does not want to deal with the repercussions of actions and leaves that to the Operations team who all clearly hate their job as well but have put in so much time and energy, they just want you to be successful so that they in turn can get their cut of your commission check and make that the reason to survive another day. This job IS NOT about helping children or changing a life....thats what they tell you to lure you into thinking that this is where you want to be. NOT. The hours are MISERABLE. They constantly want you to come in on weekends, come in early, stay late UNPAID so that you can HOPEFULLY make commission and if you don't, well then, oh well you just wasted all these extra hours that you will never get back. If you don't hit your weekly quotas of cash or stalking people via email, phonic calls, school visits or whatever, you will then of course get a condescending email or a million visits to your center to stalk your every move in which they turn around and tell you that everything is your fault and you could be doing so much more to make more money. THEY NEVER DO ANYTHING WRONG AT ALL. If you don't wear a suit jacket, you are deemed "unprofessional" and if you are not as bland as a plain cracker and don't follow all of their no-personality having rules then you really won't survive. Do yourself a favor and stay on unemployment or sleeping on your parents couch instead of working here. If you do chose to work here, make sure your insurance is intact so that you can go to either a psychiatrist to deal with the misery and stress or the Dr. to get meds (as most of the employees do to survive)

Stay away

Pros

At least it's a job...

Cons

Immense distrust of others at the senior management level. As a franchise based company, senior management regards the franchise community as helpless idiots. The animosity between corporate leadership and franchisees is abhorrent. As a corporate employee you are so fearful of making any kind of mistake. Yelling and belittling is how senior management deals with employees. Furthermore, Huntington Learning Center does not care one bit about one child; it’s all about revenue, revenue, revenue. Stay away, you will regret working at HLC.

Pros

Good mission statement to help children learn. Center staff is caring and hardworking. Adding new products and services that will benefit children.

Cons

Lack of direction and leadership. Company owners are slow to move with the industry. Company management has 1970s meantality. No rewards, just bullying.
