Pros

Relaxed dress code, free coffee and tea. Great Christmas Party. Great work life balance.

Cons

Pays woefully below area averages. Benefits have taken large hits in recent years to reduce costs. Way too profit focussed.

Pros

I met some life-long friends at Hyland. I gained some life-long skills at Hyland. The work was interesting. Hyland was something rare.

Cons

The new cast of R&D “leadership” seemed to want to focus all resources into anything other than the flagship product that lifted Hyland to where it was. It felt like they were a child that didn’t want to clean their room and would cry, kick, and scream, spending an enormous amount of time and effort resisting instead of taking the five minutes to pick a few things off the floor. Almost like they were jealous of OnBase and thought they could think of something better. (protip you can’t, that’s why you were acquired lol) The layoffs were the final nail in the coffin of Hyland's reputation. If you were involved in that you should be ashamed of yourself. I can't imagine there is any amount of respect left in the chain of command in R&D after that. Now Hyland seems like: -No longer a place to be mentored by great leaders. -No longer has leaders, it has bosses. -No longer a place to be yourself. -No longer a place to grow. -No longer a place to feel safe. -No longer a job to brag about. -No longer a place to take pride in. -No longer a place you recommend to a friend. They are trying to attribute their turnover rate to the 'great resignation' when in fact it seems like they are just disassociating from the truth about how R&D “leadership” basically nuked the company from within and are now gravitating towards the dead sea effect. They have a racecar driver and a golf dude now so I guess it was probably worth it.

Pros

-The people I worked with are amazing. They care about each other, allowed flexibility to have some work life balance, and helped me grow in my career. - Some soft benefits still exist, like the wellness reimbursement and employee appreciation day. - It's a great starting point, you can learn skills then move on to a company that actually wants to pay your value.

Cons

-The pay is pitiful across the board. I moved to another company to do the same responsibilities and got a 37% raise. - Every year raises are capped at 3%, which in the current state of inflation means basically losing money. - Acquired new companies and countries faster than they could sustain - #hylandlife is a thing of the past - Company values such as employees are family are just words on the wall, not something that is actually followed through on - Miscommunication or lack of communication is rampant. You'll hear from top levels that financially the company is in great shape, then get word that the travel budget is being cut by 50% to save money. - Employees are fleeing. From all departments. It's hard to competently run a company when the individuals who know what they're doing are leaving for better paying jobs.
