Pros

-Opportunity to work with talented people you can learn from. could be good first job. -Generally forward looking -Great technology and technology support, forward looking on that front -Unlimited vacation -Decent benefits (except no 401k match) -Strong client roster -Some interesting projects -Although there have been some all-nighters, generally good work-life balance -Upper management seems to genuinely care about employee welfare but change is hard to come by for some reason

Cons

-No real career advancement. Seems the only way to advance career (and pay) is to leave -Haven't restored pay cuts taken during Covid -Chaotic staffing -No real boss. There's no one invested in your career growth. You just jump from project manager to project manager who are only interested in what you can do for that project at that time. Not where you can go or what you are interested in doing or what skills you need to develop. -A lot of "managing up" -There are fine lines between job roles. As a result a lot of people at a more junior level punch above their weight but are not compensated for that. -Have worked overtime without pay even though by law entitled to it -Some offices are cliquey and management has favorites -Office culture is geared towards extroverts

Pros

If this is your first corporate job, it’s a great learning opportunity. When the office size is 30 or less, it’s ideal; any more than this and the culture starts to crumble. Benefits are reasonable. Meals are even reimbursed when you work overtime. If you ask to gain more experience in a specific area (i.e. construction admin), they will typically make it happen. Speak up for yourself and take initiative.

Cons

My number one complaint is that principals and project managers constantly agree to unrealistic deadlines; in turn, designers are overworked and burn out.. designers are also underpaid. These are points that have been brought up many times and have never been properly addressed. There is also an unhealthy mentality that if you leave at a reasonable hour every day, you must not be working hard enough. Every corporate office has pros and cons. Unfortunately, the cons outweighed any reason worth staying with the company.
