Pros

Since I've been here for a while, my POV may be much different than someone who just started. I find there's a lot of freedom for people who have been here a while, especially on my vertical - I know other verticals don't have it as easy even if they've been working here a while. But its not that hard to learn the loopholes of the place and make them work to your benefit. It's pretty easy to work from home and a lot of people abuse it with no consequences.

Cons

If you're not white or male, over 30 or don't have an Ivy League pedigree you're going to get treated like crap. When I started this place was somewhat diverse, but now the majority of the editors are old white men and there are barely even any reporters of color or culture. There is no growth opportunities - in fact, most of the young editors have been demoted and pushed out.

Worst company I have ever worked for

Pros

People who are not in management roles are nice to work with.

Cons

This was the worst company I have ever worked for. My paycheck was often wrong. They would tell you that you would be paid on a certain day, but would not get paid that day. The company definitely has money troubles because most people would not get their bonuses on time or paychecks were late. You don't get a raise. Management shuts their doors and is not open to hearing new ideas. The company never does anything fun or invests into their employees. HR does not solve any problems especially when you tell them your manager is harassing you. There are no strategies in place to grow the business and if they are they are not communicated. It's not a comfortable office environment at all mostly pin quiet all the time. If you want to even get a notebook you may have to wait a month since that is not approved into the budget.

Great people, awful upper management

Pros

The editors and reporters are sharp, hungry and fun to get along with. The company will splurge out for amenities sometimes to keep morale above acceptable levels. It's a great place for young reporters to get their journalism feet wet, as long as you can handle the job insecurity and bad communications from upper management looming over your work.

Cons

Took months to receive back expenses and weeks to hear back for basic budget questions. The upper management is a mess, and the Korean cult connection thing doesn't inspire confidence.
