Pros

Leadership admitted behind close doors they were reviving a workplace safe for men and followed through by laying off the a huge portion of the women that were considered toxic by many. Celebrate this or demonize it at your discretion. Extremely good pay bordering on wasteful and probably why so many layoff cycles needed to occur.

Cons

ICON fails at the soft skills of technology. They're not incompetent, but they don't know how to manage people. ICON values loyalty and friendship over honesty. That was one good thing about Alex, you could tell him the truth and not get fired over it, even if you weren't friends. The company has burned cash like crazy on silly pet projects. Business outlook is pretty bad, the wall system is not the expensive part of the home building. Zero transparency.

Pros

The pay is decent and prior to mass layoffs they had gathered a group of talented individuals to work there.

Cons

In short there are a group of hustlers. There’s very little in the way of a business strategy and it’s all talk and very little substance. As a business development professional, I was asked to misrepresent the capabilities of the technology in order to win business. There’s also extreme pressure on employees to never say no even when we believe doing something is not in the interest of the company. I would never recommend someone work there.

Pros

- Work with many incredibly intelligent and kind people - Very interesting work using a really cool technology - Good pay - Involvement with multidisciplinary teams - Flexibility with work hours and days off

Cons

- 'Velocity' rules most decisions, resulting in constant backtracking, rework, and shifting deadlines - Sub-par benefits - Short-sighted management (hiring numerous people within months of letting them go in a massive layoff) - Grind culture (re: 'Velocity')
