      Good Company, Had a Bad Supervisor

      Pros

      The company itself is generally understanding, flexible, provides a decent work-life balance, and understands most people's personal positions.

      Cons

      Had to buy all of my own work from home stuff, was hired under a supervisor that retired and was temporarily replaced by an assistant supervisor who had zero interest in actually being a good manager and teaching the position even though it was in the description upon hiring.

      Pros

      Excellent management in branch offices in CA. Definite room for growth if you're willing to put in the extra time and effort required for salaried positions. Excellent employee assistance program, managers and HR are willing to work with you for FMLA and other leaves of absence.

      Cons

      Plagued by out of touch national and executive leadership. Very personable when meeting them, but their business mindset is very 1980's. Work life balance can be difficult to maintain, especially due to the production that is expected. There are no "renewal underwriters" and as a BDU you are expected to be the end-all be-all with your book of business. Service center often feels combative with underwriting, rather than acting as the support the department is intended for.
