      Reactive company with incompetent senior management

      Pros

      Nice benefits, flexible work schedules, educational grants and assistance (currently frozen), good people.

      Cons

      Senior management is reactive and disconnected with each other and with their staff. The company hires and fires on a regular basis. A lot of people get tired of the uninspiring environment and choose to leave themselves. Most employees have stories of how they were unfairly treated and the staff is constantly worried about losing their jobs because of the ongoing SAP implementation and the economy.

      Good for a small company - lots of room for growth with IT maturity

      Pros

      The coworkers were great. For the most part, it feels like family. There are efforts being made to mature the IT organization.

      Cons

      The CIO can be a little trigger-happy and makes snap decisions with projects and with personnel (random firings). It breeds mistrust. On one hand, has a vested interest in improving the IT organization. On the other hand, makes snap decisions and sometimes "cheaps out" and as a result winds up with less than what they wanted. There is a tendency to take projects quite far in, then shift priorities and cancel, which wastes the very money they're trying to save. In the time I was at the company, i put long hours into four projects - only one of them made it to Production (one even made it through UAT and was ready to train and roll).

      ICW was a great place to work, until about 2001

      Pros

      I began my career with ICW back in the late 80's and up until about 2001, it was a great place to work. Many of the employees would socialize together outside of work. We all enjoyed our time at work and outside of work--it was a happy family. We all worked smart and hard to build the organization to a profitable on. I have many good memories and friendships from those days.

      Cons

      Around 2001, executive level management changes were made and the workplace became a hostile, unhappy place. Integrity and ethics were thrown out the window for the bottom line. It became a stressful and depressing place to work. By early 2009, I'd had enough and resigned my position @ ICW. It's very sad what ICW has become.
